memStock LifeStyle Disclaimer and Terms of Use

Effective date: October 21, 2026

This page applies to memStock LifeStyle, the online publication available at media.memstock.com, including its English edition at media.memstock.com/en (the "Site"). The Site is published by modo, Inc., a company based in Tokyo, Japan ("modo," "we," "us" or "our"). This notice and these conditions are intended to apply to use of the Site.

The memStock app and memstock.com are separate services governed by the memStock Terms of Service. Those terms do not apply to the Site except where this page says so.

1. General information only

The Site publishes general information about family life, parenting, household money, home and keeping memories. It is provided for general educational and informational purposes only.

Nothing on the Site is medical, health, mental-health, nutritional, legal, tax, accounting, financial, insurance or investment advice, or a personalized recommendation to buy, sell, hold or use any particular product, service, security, account, insurance policy or provider. Unless expressly stated otherwise, references to third-party products and services do not imply endorsement or affiliation.

2. No professional relationship

Reading the Site, using its guides or contacting us does not create a doctor–patient, attorney–client, accountant–client, financial adviser–client or any other professional or fiduciary relationship between you and modo or anyone who writes for or reviews the Site. A "Reviewed by" credit is displayed only after specialist review has been completed and its date and scope have been recorded. A reviewer assignment alone is not a completed review. It does not mean that the reviewer has advised you, and it is not a guarantee that the guide fits your circumstances.

3. Consult a qualified professional

Decisions about your health, your child's health or safety, your money, taxes, insurance, benefits or legal rights depend on facts we do not know. Before acting on anything you read on the Site, consult an appropriately qualified professional who is familiar with your situation, and check current official guidance from the government agencies, programs, manufacturers and institutions involved.

4. Accuracy and currency; no warranties

We try to publish accurate, well-sourced information, and we correct errors when we find them (see our editorial policy). However, we do not guarantee that any information on the Site is accurate, complete, current, reliable or suitable for your purposes. Laws, government programs, prices, eligibility rules, medical guidance and product safety information change, and a guide may be out of date by the time you read it. Estimates, examples and sample calculations are illustrative only and are not measured results or predictions.

THE SITE AND ITS CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.

5. Your responsibility

You are responsible for how you use the Site and for any decision you make based on its content. Any reliance you place on information on the Site is at your own risk.

6. Health and safety information

Health, safety and parenting guides describe general practices and publicly available guidance. They are not a diagnosis, a treatment plan or a substitute for the advice of a pediatrician, physician, pharmacist, mental-health professional or other qualified provider. Follow product labels, manufacturer instructions, recalls and the guidance of your child's healthcare provider.

The Site is not for emergencies. If you or someone else may be in danger or needs urgent medical help, call 911 in the United States, or your local emergency number elsewhere. For a possible poisoning in the United States, call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222. For a mental-health or suicide crisis in the United States, call or text 988.

7. Financial information

Guides about household money, saving, debt, insurance, benefits, education costs and investing provide general information only. They are not investment, financial-planning, tax or legal advice, and they are not an offer, solicitation or recommendation regarding any security, account, loan, insurance product or financial institution.

Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. Past performance does not guarantee future results. Any decision to invest, borrow, insure or choose a financial institution, broker or other provider is your own responsibility. Providers differ in their fees, features, protections and risks; compare them and read their terms before choosing one. Unless expressly stated otherwise, references to third-party providers, products or programs do not imply endorsement or affiliation. Any editorial comparison or suggestion is general information, not an assessment of suitability for your circumstances.

8. Rules vary by location; U.S. readers

The English edition of the Site is written for readers in the United States. Laws, taxes, benefits, insurance rules, school policies and safety requirements differ by state, county, city and school district, and may be different outside the United States. Check the official rules that apply where you live. Information that is accurate in one place may not apply in another.

9. Third-party links, products and services

The Site links to outside websites, documents and resources so that you can check our sources and learn more. We do not control third-party sites; their content, availability, privacy practices and terms may change. Unless expressly stated otherwise, references to third-party products, services, companies, organizations, programs or financial institutions do not imply endorsement or affiliation. Review their current terms and policies before using them.

10. Advertising, affiliate relationships and our own products

modo, Inc., which publishes memStock LifeStyle, also develops the memStock app. When app links are enabled, an ownership disclosure accompanies guides and app promotion that mention memStock.

As of the effective date above, memStock LifeStyle does not participate in affiliate programs, does not accept payment for inclusion or placement in guides, and does not publish sponsored guides. If these relationships are introduced, we will disclose them clearly and close to the recommendation in the affected guides, and update this page in accordance with applicable law, including the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's endorsement guidelines.

The Site uses Google Analytics 4 with advertising features and Google Signals turned off. For the English edition, analytics is configured to omit URL query strings and fragments and to suspend collection on search pages and during form interactions. Inquiries are handled through Google Forms. See Section 14 and the linked English Privacy Policy for details.

11. AI assistance and human review

We use artificial-intelligence tools to help organize research and prepare drafts. Our editors review drafts before publication and decide what to publish. Human review reduces errors but does not eliminate them, and it does not guarantee that every guide or statement is accurate, complete or current. The limitations in Sections 4, 5 and 12 apply to all content on the Site, however it was prepared.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, modo, Inc. and the people who write for or review the Site will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages and loss of money, profits or data.

Nothing in these limitations excludes or limits liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury to the extent that liability for it cannot be limited under applicable law, or any other rights or liability that cannot lawfully be waived or limited. Some states and other jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limitations, so some of these provisions may not apply to you. No provision overrides protections that cannot lawfully be excluded by agreement.

13. Intellectual property

To the extent protected by applicable law, original material is owned by modo or its respective rights holders. Third-party material is used under applicable licenses or other lawful permissions. AI-assisted material is protected only to the extent applicable law recognizes protectable authorship. Nothing in this notice limits rights granted directly by a third-party license. You may read and share links to our guides. You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, publicly display, transmit or create derivative works from the Site's content without our prior written permission, except as permitted by applicable law (for example, fair use) or as expressly stated on the Site. "memStock" and the memStock logo are trademarks of modo, Inc.

14. Privacy

The Site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how it is used, with advertising features and Google Signals turned off. We use Google Forms to receive inquiries. Details about information handling and reader choices are available in the English memStock Privacy Policy.

15. Changes to this page

We may update this page from time to time and identify updates by the "Last updated" date. We will provide prominent notice of material changes. Where notice or consent is required by applicable law, we will provide that notice or seek that consent. Updates do not retroactively remove rights that cannot lawfully be removed.

16. Governing law and venue

To the extent permitted by applicable law and where legally enforceable, these conditions are governed by Japanese law and the Tokyo District Court is the exclusive court of first instance for disputes within their scope. Mandatory laws of a reader's state may apply regardless of these provisions. Nothing here excludes non-waivable consumer rights, limits a regulator's authority or restricts a forum right that cannot lawfully be waived.

17. Severability

If any part of this page is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts remain in full effect, and the invalid part will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law.

18. Contact

This form is not a service for individual medical, financial or legal advice. Please do not send medical records, account details, Social Security numbers or identifying information about children. Questions about this page, correction requests and other inquiries: use our contact form. For a correction, include the guide's URL and the statement you believe needs checking.
